The MSPAlliance, the largest association of managed service providers
with more than 8,000 member companies, bestowed four honors as part of
its Managed Services Industry Leadership Awards at annual MSPWorld
conference in Orlando, Fla., last week.

MSPAlliance presented four awards for leadership, green IT
initiatives, community service and innovation from a group of nominated
managed service provider members, individual professionals and vendor
organizations. The awards reflect the achievements and professionalism
in managed services as promoted and evangelized by the MSPAlliance,
says Charles Weaver, the group’s president.

“The goal of the MSPAlliance has always been to do good and
meaningful work for the managed services industry. In staying true to
that belief, we felt that it was important not to rank members, but to
recognize true thought-leaders in the managed services industry,” said
Charles Weaver, president of MSPAlliance. “Recipients of this year’s
award were chosen for the meaningful and remarkable contributions they
made in the managed services industry.”

The Green IT award went to Anexio, a Florida-based managed service
provider. MSPAlliance presented the award in recognition of Anexio’s
adoption of conservationist IT practices both internally and among its
clients. Anexio, MSPAlliance says, is a fine example of the benefits
that can be realized by businesses everywhere. Anexio was the first
managed service provider to receive the MSPAlliance’s Green IT
accreditation.

The Innovation award went to Untangle, a provider of open-source
network access and security tools, for advancing the use of technology.
MSPAlliance says Untangle has demonstrated the beneficial use of
technology for more effective IT management.

The Community Service award, given in recognition of a managed
service provider’s efforts to better the communities they operate in,
went to Innovation Networks in British Columbia, Canada. Community
service is a core value of the MSPAlliance program.

The Leadership Award was presented to Lane Smith, president of San
Diego-based service provider Do IT Smarter, in recognition of his work
to demonstrate the ideals of managed services professionalism,
upholding community-based standards for service delivery, and
contributions to helping others MSPs achieve accreditation and
certification.

MSPAlliance is a premier partner of Channel Insider. The two
organizations are working together to develop new awards and expand the
recognition of managed and software-as-a-service providers.
