Unified file data platform for hybrid cloud environments, Nasuni, has appointed former Veracode CEO Sam King as its new CEO.

King appointed to lead as Flanagan retires to non-executive chairman role

She will follow in the footsteps of Paul Flanagan, who is retiring after eight years as CEO. Flanagan will remain on the Board of Directors, serving as Non-Executive Chairman during the transition.

“I am honored to join Nasuni as CEO at such an exciting time for the company,” said King. “I want to think Paul for his outstanding leadership and congratulate the Nasuni team on successfully disrupting the legacy enterprise storage market with their transformative unified file data platform.”

King served as the CEO of Veracode from 2019 to 2024. She joined the company in 2006 and has gained experience in executive leadership roles across product management, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate strategy. Additionally, she has been recognized as EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year for New England and was named Executive of the Year by the Executive Women’s Forum.

“As enterprises navigate the triple challenge of AI adoption, accelerated cloud migration, and supporting distributed workforces, Nasuni’s role as the trusted data custodians is increasingly vital,” King said. “The future belongs to organizations with data strategies that deliver seamless collaboration while maintaining strong security and performance– precisely where Nasuni excels. I am energized to build on our exceptional relationships with customers and partners, understanding their needs while accelerating our product innovation. Together, we will advance Nasuni’s platform to anticipate market requirements, cementing our leadership position while empowering customers to unlock unprecedented value from their data assets.”

Before retiring, Flanagan contributed to the growth of Nasuni’s file data platform market, facilitated the introduction of unique product innovations, and integrated key acquisitions to expand the company’s product portfolio.

“I am thrilled to welcome Sam to Nasuni as our new CEO,” said Flanagan. “We could not have found a more qualified person or better cultural fit to lead Nasuni to its next phase of growth. The executive team and I are committed to working with Sam to make this transition as seamless as possible and ensure Nasuni continues to make our customers successful and our company a great place to work.”

The early priorities King has identified for her leadership

King told Channel Insider she is excited to lead the company at this point in its journey, with plenty of growth opportunities in the data and AI market.

“I expect 2025 to be another pivotal year for businesses as we work to realize ROI from their AI Investments,” King said. “I’m excited to join Nasuni in supporting organizations on this journey—helping us build strong data strategies that drive impactful decisions and enable successful AI implementation.”

Further, King sees 2025 as a key point in the company’s relationship with partners and customers.

“I’m focused on getting into the field and meeting with our customers and partners first-hand to learn more about the challenges they are facing and identify key areas where Nasuni can support them,” said King. “One thing that drew me to Nasuni to begin with was our shared views on customers and partners being an extension of a company.”

“What makes the space that Nasuni works across so unique is that there is an intersection of a few different tech trends that are intertwining – cloud, AI, and security,” King continued. “These close-knit focus areas require us to have a truly unique value proposition and intellectual property.”

Nasuni-CrowdStrike Integration

Recently, Nasuni announced an integration with CrowdStrike, now available on the CrowdStrike Marketplace.

The integration delivers real-time threat detection and enhanced data recovery through sharing actionable intelligence, strengthening data protection, and minimizing downtime after an attack.

“Recent data predicts that ransomware will cost its victims around $265 billion annually by 2031. Beyond ransom payments, the resulting downtime and recovery efforts can be detrimental to businesses,” said David Grant, President at Nasuni. “Nasuni is committed to helping organizations strengthen ransomware protection and accelerate file recovery, keeping data secure throughout its lifecycle. Our new integration with CrowdStrike brings these capabilities to the next level, providing customers with a unified solution to detect and take action against any threats immediately.”

With King now at the helm, the latest integration with CrowdStrike, and its recently launched partner program at the end of last year, Nasuni is positioning itself to continue making waves throughout the channel.
