This week’s company to watch
MSP Mentor did a great job of laying out why MSPs and VARs should watch Parallels. The cloud and virtualization company, known for its Mac desktop virtualization software, named a new CEO and held its Parallels Summit in Orlando, Fla. this week. As MSP Mentor reports, plenty of channel and managed services luminaries were there for the event, as ranks of attendees swelled, and the rumor was that the company was holding private talks with both Tech Data and Synnex. Now that Birger Steen, the current president of Parallels, has been promoted to CEO, effective Feb. 23, the company will further hone its focus to capture the $50 billion market (by 2015) for SMB cloud services. Steen joined Parallels as president just six months ago after leaving his post as vice president of SMBs and distribution at Microsoft.
