Foxit’s suite of products provides PDF and eSignature solutions to knowledge workers needing more from their documents and workflows than traditional tools offer. The vendor announced new functionalities targeting document conversion and PDF developer tools today.

SDKs target PDF needs and add new conversion features

Foxit’s February rollout includes new features in two areas. One, the PDF software development kit (SDK), now offers new compliance components for popular standards and upgrades to core processing capabilities.

Foxit highlights the following features now available in the PDF SDK:

  • Compliance & Standards: New preflight functionality ensures document compliance with PDF/E and PDF/X standards.
  • Libre Office2PDF: Multi-threaded conversion capabilities for Linux and flexible library initialization, both driven by a binary engine.
  • Enhanced OCR Capabilities: Upgraded OCR features include skew correction, image denoising, and multi-core processing, enabling faster and more accurate image-based text recognition.
  • Performance Boosts: Optimization and form file import speeds have been dramatically improved, reducing processing times from minutes or hours to seconds.
  • New APIs and Features: Developers can now access regular expression search, advanced image processing, text processing, and more.

“These new enhancements are a direct result of staying closely connected with developers to truly understand what they need to become even more powerful in their work,” said Jeff Brand, the SDK Team Lead at Foxit. “We’re proud to collaborate with developers at many of the leading business and government organizations around the world, whose insights had a direct impact on driving these updates. These capabilities, unmatched by any other solutions on the market, demonstrate Foxit’s commitment to remaining agile and consistently innovating to deliver tools that not only meet but exceed user expectations.”

The second area of feature rollouts targets Foxit’s SDK focused on conversion. The company says the new features enable developers to work through complex document conversion processes.

The new enhancements to the SDK include the following:

  • Foxit Office2PDF: Official integration of Foxit Office2PDF as an add-on, with new features like outline conversion in Word2PDF and workbook conversion options in Excel2PDF.
  • Enhanced Conversion Flexibility: More conversion options, including the ability to remove trailing spaces, insert page breaks, and output images during conversion. It also introduces support for restricted PDF file conversion.
  • New Class and API: ConvertCheckCallback, allowing for more flexible conversion checks.
  • Updated APIs: New APIs for handling PDF-to-Office conversions, such as PDF2Office, PDF2Word, PDF2Excel, and PDF2PowerPoint, now offer more control over conversion processes and better handling of complex layouts and formatting.

Rollout follows new marketplace availability

These new features follow a recent announcement that Foxit’s solutions are now available to channel partners through the Pax8 cloud marketplace. The company touts its ability to enhance productivity, scalability, and security for partners and their clients.

The document management technology has joined other recent additions to Pax8’s marketplace, including GoTo’s LogMeIn Resolve and security solutions from Halcyon.

“As solution providers look to marketplaces as the sales channels of the future, they are best served by platforms with comprehensive e-commerce solutions that expand their digital capabilities, deliver a seamless online sales experience and maximize opportunities for upselling and cross-selling,” said Ryan Walsh, Chief Strategy Officer at Pax8. “The Pax8 Marketplace is designed to help partners unlock more sales opportunities and enhance relationships with their customers, providing them with the infrastructure and resources to drive profitability at scale.”
