Cybersecurity vendor Blackpoint Cyber today announced its new platform solution. CompassOne offers MSPs capabilities across various security needs and also aims to address what CTO Manoj Srivastava calls the challenge of quantifying MSP and customer maturity.

CompassOne shows the next generation of Blackpoint’s approach to the channel

The new platform is Blackpoint Cyber’s latest innovation, designed to stand out in a crowded market and provide MSPs with deeper insights into their customers’ security posture. In a press release detailing the launch, the company refers to CompassOne as a “unified security posture and response” platform.

Blackpoint Cyber lists the following as key solutions available within the platform:

  • Security Posture Rating: A letter-grade security posture rating system based on established cybersecurity frameworks to track cybersecurity maturity and compliance progress over time
  • Unified Asset Inventory: Gain complete visibility across your entire attack surface, including devices, identities, cloud, and SaaS environments.
  • Tenant Administrator: Complete oversight for MSPs and IT teams to monitor clients, track renewals, manage billing, and respond to security issues instantly.
  • Managed Detection and Response (MDR): Blackpoint’s 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC) delivers the fastest threat detection and response in the market, according to the company.
  • Vulnerability Management: Identify and remediate the risks that matter most with automated discovery, prioritization, and remediation guidance.
  • Application Control: Block unauthorized software and prevent ransomware, zero-day exploits, and insider threats.
  • Cloud Posture Management: Continuously monitor and fix security misconfigurations in Microsoft 365 before attackers exploit them.
  • LogIC (Logging with Integrated Compliance): Effortless compliance, without legacy SIEM headaches. Capture, store, and analyze security logs automatically to meet regulatory standards and pass audits with ease.

“Security teams don’t have time to stitch together fragmented tools and dashboards,” said Jon Murchison, founder and CEO of Blackpoint Cyber. “CompassOne simplifies cybersecurity by providing complete visibility, rapid response, and a fully managed approach—all in a single, cost-effective solution. No more tool sprawl. No more wasted time. No more reactive security.”

CompassOne integrates new features with solutions the company has developed over the years. Blackpoint Cyber’s SOC team is already an industry-leading resource, and the company has consistently portrayed itself as a vendor dedicated to offering MDR support to partners and customers during breaches or other incidents.

Why the company views this as a category-creating innovation

In a press briefing preceding the announcement, CTO and Chief Product Officer Manoj Srivastava told Channel Insider that CompassOne was created to address pain points the company identified in its partner base and the broader market.

“MSPs are strategic partners, not just tool providers, to their customers,” Srivastava said. “Now, partners will be able to you, as a business, exactly where you are and show you how to get to where you want to be.”

To that end, Srivastava says that part of the inspiration behind CompassOne’s development was the inability of many to quantify maturity on both the partner and customer sides of the equation. The security posture rating capabilities will enable users to benchmark their security posture against industry standards and compliance requirements, providing partners and customers with a common language through which they can discuss security.

Then, as Srivastava says, MSPs can utilize the platform to identify and recommend next steps for that customer and easily demonstrate to the client how they improve over time.

MSPs will now benefit from more competitive pricing and features

Srivastava says Blackpoint Cyber has also addressed pricing concerns it heard from partners, with a base-level offering of the platform available for those just starting out or looking for the simple capabilities without the more advanced features some might not need.

As partners and customers recognize their needs from a security platform, they can opt for the full-functionality platform rather than the basic one. Either way, Blackpoint Cyber aims to provide options for everyone at various price points, helping partners achieve sustainable growth and recurring revenue opportunities.

“This platform helps partners provide more value at any size and point in the journey,” Srivastava said. “CompassOne opens up the TAM significantly.”

Srivastava said this announcement marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Blackpoint Cyber team, as it continues to focus on supporting MSPs throughout their security journeys. The long-term technology roadmap includes partnering with other vendors and continuing to listen to partner feedback to build a broad ecosystem of security capabilities worldwide.
