Business executives ranked financial services the highest in terms of ability, at 78%, followed by telecommunications, at 71%.

Business executives ranked government agencies and municipal services as the lowest, at 51% and 52%, respectively.

Business execs ranked safety and security the highest, at 81%, followed by access to complicated functions in less time at 79%.

Of the consumers surveyed, only 6% said a poor application experience would make them abandon a brand forever. However, 51% said they would be pretty annoyed and 21% said they would abandon the brand temporarily.

Brands that offer a poor application are at risk of losing 27% of their customer base. Of the consumers who had a fair or poor application experience, 10% said they would permanently leave a brand due to issues pertaining to security.

The top two annoyances ranked by consumers were the slow speed of downloads and the inability to address technical issues.

For an application to be considered acceptable, it needed to load within 4 to 6 seconds for 31% of consumers, and in 1 to 3 seconds for 30%.

Beyond accessing email, 70% of consumers said they would use an application to renew a driver’s license online while 67% said they would pay taxes, but only 56% said they would use an application to vote in an election.
